Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton scrambled for a two-yard touchdown late against the Baltimore Ravens, and with it Bengals bettors got a huge backdoor cover. The Ravens won the game 23-17 but the Bengals covered the point spread of 11 at DraftKings Sportsbook.
The Bengals had the first lead of the game on a Brandon Wilson kickoff return to open the game. That was the highlight of things for most of the game as Baltimore looked like they were going to roll. Lamar Jackson ran all over them as the Ravens scored 17 unanswered points. However, things ground to a crawl. The Ravens slowly built on their lead with a pair of Justin Tucker field goals. It set up a 23-10 lead and the non-existent Bengals offense should not have been expected to find the end zone.
And yet, somehow Andy Dalton drove the team 75 yards on 12 plays in 2:18 for the unlikely cover. It was all about penalties. A roughing the passer penalty on 3rd and 24 was critical. Dalton threw incomplete, but Pernell McPhee was flagged on the play. A 3rd and 19 arrived a couple players later, but Dalton found Auden Tate for 29 yards. A defensive pass interference call set up 1st and goal for the Bengals, and they punched it in.
The Ravens improve to 4-2 with the win while the Bengals drop to 0-6. Cincinnati is now 3-3 against the spread, while Baltimore is now 1-4-1 against the spread.
