We make a pick against the spread and break down Dolphins-Chiefs predictions in the Wild Card round of the 2024 NFL Playoffs.

The 2024 NFL Playoffs will kick off today and we’ll be treated to an AFC Wild Card matchup in frigid conditions as the No. 6 Miami Dolphins hit the road to face the No. 3 Kansas City Chiefs. The game will kick off at 8:10 p.m. ET and will be streamed exclusively on Peacock.

Miami (11-6) came up just short of clinching the AFC East title in what was an otherwise successful regular season campaign. Despite their success, the Dolphins have faced criticism over their inability to beat good teams as 10 of their victories came against ballclubs who missed the playoffs. This matchup will mark the return of All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill to Arrowhead Stadium for the first time since being traded two years ago.

Kansas City (11-6) won the AFC West yet again, but it wasn’t as easy as previous years. The Chiefs lost three of five games down the stretch as injuries and an inconsistent wide receiver core were the primary reasons for some of their struggles. They still managed to win their final two games to clinch the division and a home game in the Wild Card round.

This is shaping up to be one of the coldest games in NFL history with a kickoff temperature projected to be at -1 with a -21 wind chill.

ATS Pick: Dolphins +4.5

Much has been made about Miami’s struggles in cold weather, but Kansas City also has to play in these extremely cold conditions as well. There has been an air of skepticism surrounding this Dolphins team heading into the postseason and I think Tagovailoa, Hill, and company will step up and deliver an upset to a Chiefs team that wasn’t too crisp late in the season.
