The Jacksonville Jaguars (8-4) will face the Cleveland Browns (7-5) in Week 14 of the NFL season. Kickoff from Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio is set for 1 p.m. ET, with the game airing on ESPN. Jacksonville lost their last game in overtime to the Cincinnati Bengals, and Cleveland has lost back-to-back games.
The Browns are the three-point favorites. Cleveland is installed at -162 on the moneyline, while Jacksonville is the +136 underdog. The point total is set at 31.5. All odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook
Jaguars vs. Browns, Week 14: Pick against the spread
The story around Jacksonville in this game is whether or not quarterback Trevor Lawrence plays. He is dealing with a high-ankle sprain that saw him miss the end of last week’s game. He was expected to miss the game but has been listed as a limited practice participant this week so he could suit up. If that announcement is made, the line will likely swing a few points in favor of Jacksonville.
Cleveland is dealing with its own uncertainty under center. Dorian Thompson-Robinson remains in the concussion protocol this week after being sidelined with the injury in Week 13. Joe Flacco played well but wasn’t able to lead the Browns to a win over the Los Angeles Rams. Flacco likely gives them a better chance to win, but Thompson-Robinson had been the starter when healthy. Wide receiver Amari Cooper has also not practiced to begin the week and could leave the team without its best receiver.
The Pick: Jacksonville +3
I like the Jaguars to cover, with or without Lawrence under center. Backup quarterback C.J. Beathard didn’t play well enough to bring his team a win, but he still played well coming on for Lawrence. He finished 9-of-10 for 63 yards but had a deep completion to Calvin Ridley called back due to a penalty. Cleveland has injuries on both sides of the ball and couldn’t generate any pressure or slow down the Los Angeles Rams. Even if Lawrence doesn’t play, with no Christian Kirk, I think Calvin Ridley and Travis Etienne Jr. are in for a big day.
