Pick against the spread for Commanders vs. Cowboys in Week 12 of 2023 NFL season

Ben Hall gives their pick against the spread for Commanders vs. Cowboys in Week 12.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott (4) runs for a touchdown in the second quarter against the New York Giants at AT&T Stadium Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Commanders will travel south to matchup with their divisional rival in the Dallas Cowboys. These teams have played against each other 10 times on Thanksgiving with Dallas leading that series 8-2. Kickoff from AT&T Stadium is set for 4:30 p.m. ET and will air on CBS.

Dallas is a 12.5-point favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook and the total sits at 49. On the moneyline, the Cowboys are -675 while the Commanders are +490.

Commanders vs. Cowboys, Week 12: Pick against the spread

Week 11 defined the year the Commanders are having. There should have been no chance tat they lost to the New York Giants. But of course they go out and lose by double digits at home. Fans are furious with Ron Rivera and they have every right to be. It’s almost certain that he will be fired at the end of the season, or possibly even sooner. Sam Howell has been solid and will likely be their starting quarterback for years to come. It’d be best for them to continue losing the rest of this season and get a good pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

This really seems like it could be the year for Dallas. We know that they’re always the regular season team, but they look solid all around. Dak Prescott has been limiting turnovers and playing at an elite level. CeeDee Lamb has entered himself into the WR1 conversation in all of the NFL. He’s been unstoppable which is no surprise. There defense has been impressive as well as it’s been without Trevon Diggs for a good portion of the season.

The Pick: Cowboys -12.5

It feels like the Cowboys game is always the Thanksgiving blowout and it has gone both ways. I just feel like this will be the exclamation point for the Commanders season being over. This is a Dallas team that has dominated over the past few weeks against bad teams. They get another one at home on a historical day for them. Watch for a Tony Pollard breakout game here and there is a chance we see Rivera fired before the end of the week. Take the Cowboys with the big win.
