New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara is dealing with an ankle injury ahead of Sunday’s Week 18 regular season finale against the Atlanta Falcons. He sustained the injury in the second quarter of last week’s 23-13 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and did not play in the second half.

New Orleans is trying to keep its postseason hopes alive as it would clinch the NFC South a win and a Buccaneers loss.

Alvin Kamara injury updates

Friday: Kamara missed practice once again on Friday and has been ruled questionable for Sunday’s game against the Falcons. Head coach Dennis Allen said that Kamara is so valuable to the team that they’ll wait until game time to see if he can go.

Thursday update: Kamara was not spotted on the field for Thursday’s practice, per Luke Johnson of the New Orleans Times-Picayune. This is the second straight day of practice that he has missed, so his chances of playing will most likely hinge on his status on Friday.

Fantasy football analysis

Kamara has been a productive piece of the Saints offense and it would be a huge blow to the team if he missed Sunday’s regular season finale. Even after being suspended for the first three games of the regular season, he still enters Week 18 as a top 10 fantasy running back in PPR leagues. He has taken 180 carries for 694 rushing yard and five touchdowns on the ground, complementing those numbers with 75 receptions for 466 receiving yards and a touchdown through the air.

Granted, it might not matter to most given that most weekly fantasy leagues ended last weekend. However, he is the fourth-most expensive running back on DraftKings DFS with a price of $7,500. You may want to start looking into other cheaper options when drafting your lineups for this weekend’s games.
