Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle is dealing with an ankle injury that kept him out of last week’s matchup with the Ravens. The injury is reportedly a high-ankle sprain, which usually keeps a player out multiple weeks, but there are exceptions.
The Dolphins have a playoff spot locked in, but they are playing the Buffalo Bills for the AFC East title, which also brings with it the No. 2 seed and home-field advantage. If they were to lose, they would drop down to the No. 6 seed and go on the road in the playoffs, probably against the Kansas City Chiefs, who they lost to this season.
Jaylen Waddle injury updates
Friday update: Waddle has been listed as questionable heading into the weekend.
Thursday update: Waddle was unable to practice for a second traight day as he rests his ankle.
Fantasy football analysis
If Waddle can’t go, expect Cedrick Wilson to take the bulk of his work, while Braxton Berrios would step up into Wilson’t role. Wilson caught a touchdown last week with Waddle out and would have some appeal in fantasy games.
The Dolphins likely would have gotten beaten by the Ravens last week if Waddle had played, but there is no doubt the team could use that No. 2 wide receiver to take some of the pressure off Tyreek Hill. If Waddle can go, it would boost the Dolphins chances in this important matchup.
