The Los Angeles Chargers have designated wide receiver Joshua Palmer to return from injured reserve. That gives him three weeks to be elevated to the active roster. The Chargers desperately need his return, as injuries and poor play have their wide receiver group in trouble at the moment.

Joshua Palmer injury updates

Friday PM update: Palmer is officially out and will not be elevated from injured reserve this week, per Daniel Popper. Quentin Johnston should get another chance to prove himself this week against the Broncos.

Thursday update: Palmer was limited on Thursday for the second day in a row.

Wednesday update: Palmer’s knee injury appears to be getting better, as the team has opened his practice window to return from I.R. Hopefully, we’ll learn more about his chances to return this week.

Fantasy football analysis

Palmer was putting up strong fantasy numbers before his knee injury and his backup, rookie Quentin Johnston has not been playing well in his absence. Palmer, when activated, should return to a fantasy-sized role when he returns and is worth rostering for the fantasy playoffs.

Betting analysis

The absence of Mike Williams and Palmer has been detrimental to the Chargers offense. Enough so to believe Palmer’s return could boost their chances of winning games up moving forward.
