Game status update: Pacheco is officially ACTIVE for Sunday’s game. Clyde Edwards-Helaire has been ruled INACTIVE.
Game day update: Pacheco and Edwards-Helaire are both expected to play on Sunday in spite of their questionable designations, per Adam Schefter.
The Kansas City Chiefs host the Cincinnati Bengals in a key Week 17 matchup and they expect to have running Isiah Pacheco available for the game. Pacheco is listed as questionable after sustaining a concussion on Christmas against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Pacheco suffered a head injury in the third quarter of that game when his helmet came off and he was kicked in the head. He finished the game with 11 rushes for 26 yards and a touchdown to go along with four receptions for zero yards. He did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday, but returned with a limited session on Friday.
Andy Reid told the media on Friday that Pacheco was in the final stages of the concussion protocol and if he was cleared after practice, he would play on Sunday, per Matt Derrick. It’s worth noting that even if Pacheco is cleared, any return of symptoms ahead of kickoff could result in him being inactive.
Pacheco is also listed with a shoulder injury but is fully recovered from that. He missed two weeks in December, but returned on Christmas after full participation in practice.

Fantasy football analysis
The Chiefs don’t play until 4:25 p.m. ET, so you’re stuck waiting. We should get news from an NFL reporter on where things stand. It’s possible he could regress between Sunday morning and kickoff, but if there’s no indication of a return of symptoms, you’re relatively safe slotting him into your lineup. The Bengals run defense is middle of the pack, so Pacheco offers some RB2 value.
If Pacheco has a setback before the game, Clyde Edwards-Helaire would get the start in his place and would have modest RB2 value.
NFL DFS analysis
Pacheco is $6,800 and returning for his second straight game since recovering from his shoulder injury. There’s some intriguing value to be had even after his letdown performance against the Raiders. The Chiefs should bounce back and Pacheco seems in line for a solid workload.
As of this article publishing, DraftKings is not offering rushing or receiving yardage total props for Pacheco or Edwards-Helaire.
