Inactives update: Edwards-Helaire is OUT. This is a surprise and should give Isiah Pacheco an even bigger workload for fantasy.

Game day update: Edwards-Helaire and Pacheco are both expected to play on Sunday in spite of their questionable designations, per Adam Schefter.

The Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals face-off in a Week 17 matchup on New Years Eve. The Chiefs backfield is dealing with some injury woes, as RBs Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Isiah Pacheco are both listed as questionable on the final injury report.

Edwards-Helaire practiced on Wednesday, but then came down with an illness. He sat out Thursday and Friday practice before getting the questionable designation. Head coach Andy Reid did note on Friday that Edwards-Helaire was making progress in the right direction, per Jordan Foote.

Fantasy football analysis

If Edwards-Helaire is able to go, his value depends on Pacheco’s status. If Pacheco can go, you should sit CEH. If Pacheco cannot go, CEH holds some value as his backup. The Bengals are a middle of the pack run defense. The Chiefs have struggled enough that it’s unlikely we see enough garbage time that CEH could get more work even if Pacheco plays.

Betting analysis

As of this article publishing, DraftKings is not yet offering total yards props for Edwards-Helaire or Pacheco.
