Inactives update: Olave is officially active and should be in your fantasy football lineups.
Game day update: Chris Olave is expected to play on Sunday vs. the Lions, per Tom Pelissero.
New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave still had not cleared the league’s concussion protocol as of Saturday morning. Forced out of last week’s game with the injury, he has been able to practice this week, getting in limited sessions on Wednesday and Thursday before a full session on Friday. The Saints listed him as questionable, sounding less than optimistic about his availability for Sunday.
The Saints are at home against the Detroit Lions this week. Kickoff for that one is at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
Chris Olave injury
Fantasy football analysis
New Orleans’ wide receiver room is decimated. Michael Thomas recently landed on injured reserve, and Rashid Shaheed has been ruled out for this week. If Olave sits too, the A.T. Perry has a good shot at being the team’s top wide receiver this week.
Perry’s been playing a ton of snaps lately as the injuries have mounted for the Saints, but he’s only got three catches on six targets this season. But he could be an interesting pickup in fantasy this week, the Lions are ranked 24th in fantasy against wide receivers.
More likely, I’d say this is a great week to stream New Orleans’ tight ends, Juwan Johnson and Taysom Hill.
NFL DFS analysis
Olave is listed at $6,900 this week in DraftKings leagues, which is a lot to potentially get stuck with if he can’t go. If he clears the protocol in time to play, he’s a solid WR2 option against this pass defense. Perry is listed at $3,300, and he’d be a sneaky, but risky, WR3 option if Olave sits.
The Saints are already four-point underdogs in this one, but I wouldn’t touch that if Olave sits. Same goes for the over on 47 points.
