Keenan Allen is dealing with a quad injury for Week 13. We break down what it means for fantasy football and betting.

Inactives update: Allen is officially active. Make sure he is in your fantasy lineups.

Game day update: Keenan Allen is expected to play on Sunday vs. the Patriots, per Ian Rapoport.

As if things could get any worse for the Los Angeles Chargers, now wide receiver Keenan Allen is dealing with a quad injury. He’s officially listed as questionable for Week 13. He did not participate in practice on Wednesday or Thursday, before getting in a limited session on Friday.

For his part, Allen waived off concerns about availability this week. That’s not exactly official word, but it is at least one sign pointing toward him playing through it. The Chargers are on the road against the New England Patriots. Kickoff for that game is at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.

Fantasy football analysis

Allen leads the NFL with 97 catches this season, averaging almost nine receptions per game. He’s third in the NFL with 1,117 receiving yards, and he’s scored seven times. He’s in the midst of a monster streak right now too, with at least 106 yards over his last three games and double-digit receptions in all of those.

If he can’t play this week, Jalen Guyton would be the closest thing to a fill-in for him. He’d have some appeal as a WR3 with upside. Running back Austin Ekeler would no doubt see more targets as well.

NFL DFS analysis

At $9,000, Allen’s the second-highest priced receiver in DraftKings leagues this week. If he plays, he’s worth it too. The Patriots rank 22nd against opposing receivers in fantasy.

Betting analysis

The Chargers are favored by 5.5 points this week. Normally, I’d be concerned about that if the they had to go into this one without Allen, but against this woeful Patriots team, I think they’d be fine either way. The over/under is at 39 points, a tall order if Allen sits.
