The New England Patriots are taking on the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 13 of the NFL season. Starting running back Rhamondre Stevenson fumbled early in the first quarter and appeared to be injured during the play.
Stevenson had nine carries for 40 yards and brought in his lone target but for zero yards. With Stevenson sidelined, Ezekiel Elliott will likely take over getting the bulk of the carries. Ty Montgomery II will get more work as the backup. New England is also starting quarterback Bailey Zappe to try and spark some offense.
Rhamondre Stevenson injury updates
Post-game update: Stevenson has a sprained ankle and likely will be out for a “little bit,” per Mark Daniels. He will get an MRI on Monday to get a better prognosis. But, with a game against the Steelers on Thursday, we will most-likely see Ezekiel Elliott as the starter.
Update: Stevenson has been ruled OUT for the rest of the game.
Update: Stevenson has been diagnosed with a right ankle injury and has been listed as questionable to return.
Update: He was taken right into the locker room, which isn’t a great sign.
Update: Stevenson had to be helped off the field and doesn’t appear able to put any weight on his right leg.
Fantasy Football implications
Stevenson came into Week 13 as the overall RB23 in half-PPR scoring formats. Through 11 games, he had 580 yards and four touchdowns on 147 carries. Stevenson added 238 yards, bringing in 37 of his 50 targets. If he is forced to miss extended time, Elliott would likely assume the role of the starter. Elliott is the overall RB40 in half-PPR scoring. He is rostered in only 34.1% of ESPN leagues. For now, there is no reason to roster Montgomery.
