New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr took a big hit in the fourth quarter of today’s Week 13 matchup against the Detroit Lions.

Derek Carr injury updates

Monday update: Carr remains in concussion protocol, putting his Week 14 status in jeopardy. He is also dealing with a rib injury, per head coach Dennis Allen.

Update: Carr won’t be returning to this game. Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill will finish it out.

Update: Carr was seen walking to the locker room for further evaluation and it is unclear if he’ll return to the contest.

Carr was planted into the ground by defensive end Bruce Irvin. He gingerly walked off the field and is now being evaluated in the blue medical tent. Jameis Winston has entered the game for the Saints, with Taysom Hill also taking snaps at QB.

Carr has been beaten up on a few occasions throughout the season already, suffering a shoulder injury in early October and a concussion last month. He went 17-22 for 226 yards with a touchdown and an interception before exiting the contest.

The Saints currently trail by one score in late in the fourth quarter of today’s game, so we’ll see if Winston/Hill can get them over the finish line.
