The scuffling Kansas City Chiefs could once again be without starting running back Isiah Pacheco in Week 17, as he is dealing with a concussion and a shoulder injury. Pacheco was listed as not practicing on Wednesday after suffering the brain injury against the Raiders in the Chiefs Week 17 loss.
Pacheco was also listed with a shoulder injury, which had kept him out Week’s 14 and 15. It is unknown if he aggravated the injury or if this is just left over from the initial injury.
Isiah Pacheco injury updates
Friday PM update: As expected, Pacheco is questionable after getting a limited practice in on Friday. If he can get cleared of his concussion before Sunday, he will play.
Friday update: Pacheco was back at practice on Friday, per Adam Teicher. THis is a very good sign, but doesn’t mean he will be cleared from his concussion in time to play on Sunday. We will continue to wait for more information.
Thursday update: Pacheco won’t practice again on Thursday, per Matt McMullen. At this point it does not look great for Pacheco’s availability to play against the Bengals.
Wednesday update: Pacheco missed Wednesday’s practice due to concussion protocol.
Fantasy football analysis
If Pacheco could be cleared for their Week 17 game against the Bengals, he would be a must start in a good matchup. If he can’t go, Clyde Edwards-Helaire would become a decent flex play with Pacheco and Jerick McKinnon out.
Pacheco adds an element to the Chiefs offense that none of the other backs can really replicate. His loss wouldn’t move the line, but I would feel better betting on the Chiefs if Pacheco could suit up for this one.
