Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith is dealing with a knee injury ahead of their Week 16 matchup against the New York Giants this Monday on Christmas. He sustained the injury during the team’s 20-17 loss to the Seattle Seahawks this past Monday night.
DeVonta Smith injury updates
Saturday update: Smith is off the injury report and good to go for Monday’s game against the Giants.
Friday update: Smith was not at practice on Friday, per Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia. This is the second straight day that he’s missed practice, so his status for Week 16 may come down to if he suits up on Saturday.
Fantasy football analysis
Smith potentially being out would be a huge blow to the Eagles as they are trying to end a late-season three-game losing skid. The third-year wideout and former Heisman Trophy winner is verging on his second straight 1,000-yard season, hauling in 74 targets for 957 yards and six touchdowns so far this season.
Fantasy managers in the playoffs would also miss him dearly as he’s averaging 14.6 FP per game and is currently the No. 15 WR in PPR leagues. If he does miss Monday’s contest, that could mean more targets for tight end Dallas Goedert while Olamide Zaccheaus would get run as the No. 2 WR behind AJ Brown.
