Nico Collins listed as questionable for Week 16 vs. Browns

Texans WR is dealing with a calf injury going into Week 16 vs. the Browns. We break down the news for fantasy football and betting.

The Houston Texans still have plenty of hope to make the playoffs and even to win the AFC South, but injuries have piled up of late, making the road to the playoffs more difficult despite their 8-6 record. Most importantly, it looks like rookie phenom C.J. Stroud will miss his second game with a concussion this week against the Browns.

Houston lost star rookie WR Tank Dell a few weeks ago and then WR Nico Collins missed last week with a calf injury. Collins did appear to be close to returning, so he has a chance to play this week. Unfortunately, he probably will have Case Keenum throwing him the ball if he does.

Nico Collins injury updates

Friday update: Collins has been listed as questionable for the Texans heading into the weekend.

Thursday PM update: Collins said that he would be ready for Sunday’s game against the Browns.

Thursday update: Collins missed Wednesday’s practice, but was spotted on Thursday, per Aaron Wilson. He should get a limited designation for the day.

Fantasy football analysis

If Keenum starts, Collins would have a lower ceiling for fantasy. But, he would also be the main target. In that case I’d still like him as a WR3 play. Noah Brown and Dalton Schultz would have some fantasy appeal, but Schultz more than Brown due to his position.

Betting analysis

Collins likely won’t move the needle on the spread. The Browns are favored by three. But if Stroud can’t go. you have to like the Browns to be able slow down Keenum and find a way to win this one.
