Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed is dealing with both a toe and chest injury ahead of their Week 16 matchup against the Carolina Panthers this Sunday. He entered the blue medical tent in the first half of last week’s 34-20 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and was in and out of the lineup for the rest of the game.
Green Bay would hope to have him on the field for this Christmas Eve matchup as it tries to keep up in the NFC Wild Card race.
Jayden Reed injury updates
Friday update: Reed has been listed as questionable heading into the weekend.
Thursday update: Reed was not spotted at practice this afternoon, per ESPN’s Rob Demovsky. This is the second straight day that he has missed practice, so that isn’t a good sign for his prospects of suiting up this Sunday.
Fantasy football analysis
Reed’s potential absence this weekend would be a big loss for the Packers as he entered Week 16 as their top receiving target. The rookie from Michigan State has registered 54 receptions for 592 yards and six touchdowns through the air and has also punched in a pair of rushing touchdowns on the ground. That has made him the No. 22 WR in fantasy football heading into this week, averaging 8.7 FP per game for managers of standard leagues.
If he’s ruled out, Romeo Doubs would step in as the top wideout option for Jordan Love as his numbers nearly matches Reed’s. Dontayvion Wicks and Christian Watson would also get more looks, but both of those wideouts are also dealing with respective injuries ahead of this matchup.
