Houston Texans QB C.J. Stroud is expected to miss his second straight game after suffering a concussion in the team’s Week 14 loss to the New York Jets, according to ESPN.

The Texans play the Cleveland Browns on Christmas Eve in Week 16.

C.J. Stroud injury updates

Friday update: Stroud was unable to practice on Friday and has been ruled out due to his concussion. Case Keenum will get the start this week against the Browns.

Thursday update: Stroud was not spotted at practice on Thursday, per DJ Bien-Aime. He continues to look like he won’t play this week.

Tuesday update: Stroud missed practice Tuesday after being out in Week 15’s overtime victory over the Tennessee Titans. Stroud has been the story of the season, but, unfortunately, his concussion could doom the Texans’ playoff chances.

Fantasy football analysis

The Texans have a tough offensive matchup against the Browns’ stifling defense. Things just got a lot tougher with Case Keenum under center. Keenum is not startable unless you’re desperate in 2-QB or Superflex leagues. Keenum did make WR Noah Brown viable against the Titans, but with a tougher matchup, don’t expect Brown to duplicate his previous success, even though Keenum has to throw to somebody.

Betting analysis

The line has flipped from the Texans being favored to the Browns with the news of Stroud being expected to miss the game, which isn’t a surprise. We can’t possibly tell you to bet on Keenum even with the points. We’ll take the Browns to cover on the road.
