Ja’Marr Chase is dealing with a separated shoulder going into Week 16 vs. the Steelers. We break down the news for fantasy football and betting.

Cincinnati Bengals star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase was forced from last Saturday’s win over the Minnesota Vikings due to a separated shoulder. It appears that that injury is going to keep him out for this Saturday’s Week 16 game against the Steelers and possibly longer.

Ja’Marr Chase injury updates

Thursday update: Bengals head coach Zac Taylor has officially ruled Ja’Marr Chase out for Saturday’s contest against the Steelers.

Monday update: Chase is “likely to miss some time,” per Ian Rapoport. This news comes after Chase had an MRI on his shoulder to get a more precise look at the injury. We shouldn’t expect him to be ready for Week 17, but we’ll need to wait to see on his availability.

Fantasy football analysis

The Bengals already lost stud quarterback Joe Burrow for the season, but backup Jake Browning has played well in his absence. With Chase likely out, we’ve already seen that Browning can get the ball to Tee Higgins, as he scored two touchdowns last week. Higgins will be a must start against the Steelers, but we’ll have to be a bit more careful in starting any Bengals receivers this week, as Browning will likely spread the ball around.
