The Houston Texans will go on the road to take on the Tennessee Titans in Week 15 of the NFL season. Starting quarterback C.J. Stroud is in the league’s concussion protocols after sustaining the injury during the team’s Week 14 loss to the New York Jets. If Stroud is unable to play this week, Davis Mills would likely take over as the starter.
C.J. Stroud injury updates
Saturday update: Stroud has officially been ruled out.
Friday PM update: Stroud is out, per Aaron Wilson. Mills will get the start.
Friday update: Stroud wasn’t practicing on Friday, per Aaron Wilson. This means that Stroud hasn’t progressed far enough through the concussion protocol to get any practice in this week. It would be a shock if he were to be cleared before Sunday. Davis Mills should get the start against the Titans.
Thursday update: Stroud is still in concussion protocol and once again missed practice on Thursday. Barring a sudden turn on Friday, it’s looking more and more like Davis Mills will get the nod this weekend.
Wednesday update: Stroud was officially listed as a non-participant for Wednesday’s practice.
Wednesday update: Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans says that Stroud remains in the concussion protocol. As he works his way through them, Stroud will be allowed to practice to see how his symptoms react. So, even if he is listed as a limited practice participant later on Wednesday, it doesn’t mean he has a better or worse chance of suiting up Sunday.
Fantasy football analysis
Stroud heads into this week as the overall QB8 in fantasy football. The playoffs are looming if they haven’t already started in your league. Stroud would be a big loss to your lineup if he isn’t able to play. The Titans’ defense allows middle-of-the-road numbers to opposing quarterbacks in fantasy football. You could risk it and start Mills, but I’d check to see if Joe Flacco, Jake Browning or Baker Mayfield are rostered in your league before going with Mills.
