Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs exited the Week 13 game against the Vikings in the fourth quarter with an apparent quad injury and did not return to the field. The Raiders lost 3-0. They face the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 14 on Thursday Night Football.

Josh Jacobs injury updates

Thursday update: Per Rap Sheet, Jacobs is going to be out and inactive for TNF vs. the Chargers in Week 15. This comes at the worst time for fantasy football managers in the first round of the playoffs (in most leagues). If this is the case, be sure to check your lineup and see if you can snag Abdullah or White. Abdullah has seen more snaps this season but White is the more dynamic back. If you have a better option on your bench, go that route. You never want to lose your fantasy football playoff matchup on TNF. Play it safe. More options could open up the next few days from final injury reports.

Thursday update: Jacobs’ status for TNF vs. the Chargers is in doubt, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Jacobs entered the matchup questionable to play due to a quad injury. It looks like Jacobs could be held out for a key fantasy football matchup in what should be your playoffs in Week 15. If Jacobs is out, hopefully you have an OK replacement on your bench. If not, Abdullah or White are the most likely backs to step up but neither are very appealing fantasy options.

Tuesday update: Jacobs didn’t practice for the second straight day. With the team on a short week, the quad injury could cause him to miss the game, which would give Zamir White or Ameer Abdullah a starting nod.

Jacobs did not practice on Monday ahead of the Raiders’ TNF appearance in Week 14. He was listed on the injury report with a quad issue.

Fantasy football analysis

The Raiders will take a huge hit if Jacobs misses this matchup. He is their leading rusher by a significant margin — Jacobs has 805 rushing yards this season, and the next-highest player is a wide receiver with 63 yards. No backup RB on the Raiders has surpassed 60 rushing yards this season. It would be quite the surprise if Zamir White or Ameer Abdullah suddenly put together a big performance, so don’t jump to add them to your fantasy roster this week.

Betting analysis

If Jacobs is out, the Raiders will need to rely heavily on their passing game. Look for passing and receiving totals at DraftKings Sportsbook for the Raiders offense. His absence will likely affect the line, as well, though the Chargers may be missing Justin Herbert.
