The New Orleans Saints will take on the Detroit Lions in Week 13 of the NFL season. Detroit already has a good defense, but New Orleans’ offense faces an uphill battle due to the number of injuries they are dealing with. Chris Olave was unable to return to the team’s Week 12 loss due to a concussion.

Chris Olave injury updates

Friday PM update: Olave is officially listed as questionable for Week 13, but was able to practice in full on Friday. He is likely close to being cleared and removed from protocol, but we’ll need to wait to see if he is cleared in time to play.

Friday update: Olave remains in concussion protocol on Friday. He will likely be listed as questionable, but there is another step that he needs to pass per head coach Dennis Allen.

Thursday update: Olave was limited again on Thursday and remains in the league’s concussion protocol.

Wednesday PM update: Olave was listed as a limited practice participant by the team and it was confirmed he is in the league’s concussion protocol.

Wednesday update: Olave is back at practice. We will get his official practice status later this afternoon, but the assumption is that he will be limited.

Fantasy football analysis

Olave had taken over as the team’s WR1 after Michael Thomas was added to injured reserve with his own injury. Olave has played in all 11 games so far this season and has brought in 63 receptions for 771 yards and three touchdowns, all of which are tied or outright lead the Saints’ pass-catcher.

Detroit’s defense has been susceptible to big fantasy football performances for wide receivers. They are allowing the sixth-most fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers. If Olave is healthy and cleared of the concussion protocol, he can be started in 10-team leagues or higher. If he misses, Rashid Shaheed would be someone to look at in 14-team leagues or DFS. If both are inactive, AT Perry and Lynn Bowden Jr. have appeal but only in the biggest of fantasy football leagues, or as dart throws in DFS.
