Bucs RB Rachaad White injury: What status means for Week 12 vs. Colts

Rachaad White is dealing with a knee injury ahead of Week 12. We break down what it means for fantasy football and betting.

Inactives update: White is officially active and should be started in your fantasy leagues today.

Game day update: Rachaad White is expected to play, per Jeremy Fowler.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made a late addition to the Week 12 injury report. Running back Rachaad White got in a full week of practice, like normal, but on Saturday the team announced that he was now listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts.

It’s a tough spot to be in, and we might not know until the inactives list is released 90 minutes before this game’s 1 p.m. ET kickoff.

Fantasy football analysis

White’s been that rare running back who’s not sharing time in the backfield with anyone else this season. Even though his numbers aren’t blowing anyone away, he has scored three times in his last three games, including last week against the 49ers. In two contests prior to that one, he had 20 rushing attempts too.

If he can’t play, look for Ke’Shawn Vaughn and Chase Edmonds to handle work out of the backfield for the Bucs. Vaughn should have a slight edge, but it’s hard to know. If White is active for this game, I would’t expect him to see much work ... it’ll just cloud the running back picture even more.

NFL DFS analysis

White is $6,100 in DraftKings leagues this week, going up against a Colts team ranked 27th against opposing running backs. Since this game is in the early slot on Sunday, you’ll at least have time to make a decision based on the official inactive list. I would err on the side of caution and try to find someone else to fill the RB2 role in place of White this week.

Vaughn is sitting at $4,000 this week, which makes him a volatile, but attractive, flex option considering the matchup. Edmonds is at $4,300, and he’s in a similar spot to Vaughn. The problem with either player is that it’s hard to know how the Bucs will divide the workload if White misses this one.

Betting analysis

The Bucs are 2.5-point underdogs this week against the Colts, and it certainly isn’t going to help them if their best running back is on the shelf. You might consider some player props on Edmonds and Vaughn. I would stay away from the over at 44.5 too.
