Inactives update: Pierce is officially active for Week 12 against the Jaguars.

Game day update: Dameon Pierce is expected to play, per Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter.

It looks like the Houston Texans will have a running back committee again on Sunday. After a full week of practice without any limitations, Dameon Pierce is all set to return to action against the Jacksonville Jaguars this week. He is still listed as questionable, but that’s just a formality at this point. The ankle injury that’s kept him on the shelf since Week 8 seems to be healed up.

Fantasy football analysis

Devin Singletary has been a far more effective running back, but the Texans made it clear they’re going back to the time share. Pierce is averaging just three yards per carry this season. Singletary, who’s had triple-digit rushing yards and a touchdown in two straight games while having the backfield to himself, is averaging more than four yards per carry.

NFL DFS analysis

Pierce is sitting at $5,500 in DraftKings leagues right now—more than Jaylen Warren of the Steelers. Singletary is at $6,000, which would be a bargain if he weren’t being thrust back into a timeshare with Pierce.

Splitting touches drags down the fantasy value for both players, but Singletary is still a viable RB2. Pierce is a low end flex option.

Betting analysis

The Texans are 1.5-point underdogs. Pierce’s return shouldn’t affect that line too much, unless Houston feeds him touches that should be going to a more effective Singletary. The situation could affect the project point total of 47.5 if Pierce is still plodding out of the backfield.
