The Washington Commanders will visit the Dallas Cowboys at 4:30 p.m. ET this afternoon and running back Antonio Gibson has been ruled active for this Thanksgiving showdown. Gibson has been dealing with a toe injury and ultimately missed last Sunday’s 31-19 loss to the Giants. He was listed as a limited participant in practice all throughout the week and carried a questionable designation heading into today’s contest.
This is good news for the Commanders as they’ll have another offensive weapon in their arsenal for this NFC East rivalry showdown. Gibson has taken a backseat to Brian Robinson Jr. in the ground game, registering just 30 carries for 137 yards through 10 games. He’s made a bigger impact as a pass-catcher, however, hauling in 30 targets for 269 yards and two touchdowns.
He’ll be returning to the lineup at a critical juncture of Washington’s season. Having lost two straight, the Commanders are 4-7 and are quickly fading out of the postseason race in the NFC. This Thanksgiving Day showdown could make or break their season.
