The Green Bay Packers will take on the Detroit Lions in Week 12 of the NFL season. This game kicks off the Thanksgiving slate on Thursday. The Packers need to pick up a tough win, but it could be even more difficult with their injuries to the backfield. Starting running back Aaron Jones was already ruled out and backup AJ Dillon is listed as questionable with a groin injury.
AJ Dillon injury updates
Wednesday update: Dillon is listed as questionable for Thursday’s game against Detroit.
Fantasy football analysis
Dillon has gotten plenty of run this season as Jones continues to deal with injuries. He has played in 10 games so far and has 405 yards and a touchdown on 117 carries. Jones, for reference, has suited up for seven games and has 245 yards and two touchdowns on 66 carries. Jones remains the better receiving threat with 19/169/1 compared to Dillon’s 16/146/0.
No Jones means that Dillon should get a full workload if he can handle it. The fact that it is a groin injury is concerning because those can vary in severity and can also be easily re-injured. With the injury and the matchup against the Lions’ defense allowing the fifth-fewest fantasy points per game, I wouldn’t start Dillon unless you’re in a 14-team league or larger. Unless he doesn’t play, there isn’t a reason to look at Patrick Taylor or James Robinson outside of a dart throw in DFS.
