The Green Bay Packers will once again be on a short week in Week 12 when they meet the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving day. A win over the Chargers in Week 11 has the Packers in the playoff mix in the NFC, and they’ll be hoping for some revenge for an earlier loss to Detroit. Tight end Luke Musgrave, who is starting to emerge in Green Bay’s offense, is dealing with an abdominal injury ahead of Thursday’s game. Here are the latest updates.
Luke Musgrave injury updates
Wednesday update: Musgrave is being added to injured reserve, per Adam Schefter. He will miss the team’s next four games and will be first eligible to return in Week 16 against he Carolina Panthers.
Musgrave didn’t feel the injury until Monday, according to head coach Matt LaFleur. He’s in the hospital, which is not a good sign for his availability. He’s probably not going to practice Tuesday, and his participation Wednesday seems unlikely.
Fantasy football analysis
If Musgrave is out and goes on IR, Tucker Kraft looks like the natural addition to fantasy football lineups. Kraft is slowly being worked into the offense, and the rookie is an explosive player in the middle of the field. He doesn’t have Musgrave’s production but he can be a serviceable fill-in for the time being.
The Packers, especially with Aaron Jones likely out, are already going to be underdogs in this one. Musgrave being ruled out won’t move the line much there. The Lions are coming off a big comeback win and are 8-2 for the first time in forever, so this is not really a great spot for Green Bay with the injuries the Packers have.
