Jameis Winston OUT for Week 5 vs. Seahawks

We break down the news that Winston did not participate in practice. What it means for Week 5 and beyond.

Friday PM update: Head coach Dennis Allen says Andy Dalton will start this week and Winston will be out.

Friday update: Winston was not practicing on Friday, per Katherine Terrell. We’re just waiting on official word, but he is going to be out this week. Andy Dalton should start.

Thursday update: Jameis Winston was not practicing once again on Thursday, per Katherine Terrell. At this point it is not looking good for him or receiver Michael Thomas to play in this game. We’ll see what Friday brings.


Jameis Winston did not participate in Wednesday’s practice with the New Orleans Saints as they prepare to face the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. Winston has been out since last week with a back injury. He sat out of the Saints’ loss in London to the Minnesota Vikings.

Fantasy football implications

Winston played through back issues in several games this season. He is questionable to return this weekend. His backup is Andy Dalton, who was 20-for-28 for 236 yards in Week 4. Winston has thrown four touchdowns and five interceptions so far this season.
