Stephen Curry leads Warriors past Celtics in Game 2 107-88

Here’s the latest from Game 2 of the NBA Finals.

It’s Game 2 of the 2022 NBA Finals with the Boston Celtics meeting the Golden State Warriors in San Francisco Sunday. Tipoff is set for 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.

We’ll have the latest updates from the game, along with relevant odds, bets, player props, stats and futures based on what happens.

Celtics vs. Warriors Game 2 updates

That’s a wrap from the Chase Center Sunday evening. The Warriors once again used a dominant third quarter to open up a big lead and this time, they didn’t cough it up. Stephen Curry finished with 29 points, six rebounds and four assists to lead Golden State to a much-needed win, leveling this series at 1-1. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown combined for 45 points, but the Celtics supporting cast did not hit shots like it did in Game 1. Meanwhile, Jordan Poole woke up in the second half with some huge baskets and the Warriors eventually did get five players in double figures. Game 3 is Wednesday in Boston.

Warriors -4.5 easily hits, as does Warriors moneyline. The under hits largely because Boston failed to keep up with Golden State. From the player props standpoint, the Curry and White props hit while the Tatum and Horford props did not.

The Celtics appear to have conceded this game, as none of Boston’s starters are on the floor in what is now a 25-point deficit for the road team. The Warriors have also benched some key players, but Klay Thompson is still in as he tries to find his shot. It looks like we’re going to have a tied series heading into Game 3 Wednesday in Boston.

It’s the end of the third quarter, and the vintage “third quarter Warriors” have struck. It’s a 87-64 Golden State lead, with Stephen Curry leading the way with 29 points. The Warriors outscored the Celtics 35-14 in the period, but this was where it went wrong for Golden State in Game 1. Expect them to keep their foot on the gas here to level this series.

Curry has hit five triples, which means his three-point prop which was boosted on DK has hit! The Warriors lead the Celtics 79-63 and Curry has 29 points in this game.

Thompson finally hit a triple, and the Warriors have woken up in the third quarter as they do so often. Golden State leads 64-54 as we near the halfway mark of the period.

It’s halftime of Game 2 and we’ve got a good one brewing in the Bay Area. The Warriors lead the Celtics 52-50, but this has truly been a back-and-forth contest. The under on the total is looking good right now, regardless of whether you got it at 215.5 early this morning or 213.5 before the game. Warriors moneyline is a strong possibility but it’s hard to see Warriors -4.5 hitting given how this game has gone.

Jayson Tatum has 21 points, including five threes. Jaylen Brown has contributed effectively with 15 points. Stephen Curry has 15 points, four rebounds and four assists but needs some help for Golden State to hold on here. Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole have combined to go 2-13 from the field in the first half. We’ll see if they can wake up in the second half.

Tatum is up to 21 points and has hit some difficult shots in this game. The forward has also hit five triples in the first half and is making up for his poor Game 1 performance in a big way. The Celtics and Warriors are in a tight game, and Tatum’s hot hand will be something to monitor going forward.

It’s a 10-0 Golden State run, which got capped off by a triple from Andrew Wiggins. He’s hit two in this game, which means his player prop on that category has likely cashed. Curry is up to 15 points and the Warriors are up 45-40. It looks like this is going to be another back-and-forth contest in the Bay.

The Celtics are up 40-35 after a triple from Derrick White in the corner. Boston has gotten strong offensive looks on nearly every possession, while the Warriors are continuing to turn the ball over and miss easy layups. Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole have combined to go 2-12 from the floor so far, which is not helping Stephen Curry much.

Jayson Tatum is getting hot with 13 points in the first quarter, but the Warriors battled back from some shaky moments early and hold a 31-30 lead at the end of the first quarter. Stephen Curry has read the defense perfectly each time and has 10 points plus three assists in the opening frame.

Jaylen Brown has 13 points, including three triples, as the Celtics lead the Warriors 22-19 in the first quarter. The Warriors have missed at least three point blank layups and are also 1-5 from the free-throw line, so Golden State is blowing some easy opportunities for baskets here early.

The Celtics lead the Warriors 16-11 early behind nine points from Jaylen Brown, who was the star of Boston’s Game 1 victory. We’ll see if the Warriors can slow down Brown without giving up too many good looks for Jayson Tatum, who has five points in the first quarter.

Andrew Wiggins hits the first field goal of Game 2, and that’s a +800 payoff for anyone who backed the Warriors small forward on the prop.

The movement mentioned earlier is the last we’ve seen ahead of tipoff. Here’s where the lines have closed at DKSB: Warriors -4.5, over/under 213.5, GSW -200 BOS +170.

Both the Celtics and Warriors have taken the initiative to bring more awareness to gun violence ahead of Game 2. They’ve also pushed for gun control legislation and listed some organizations for people to support. Both teams are wearing orange shirts, with the words “Help End Gun Violence” on the front of the shirt and the organizations on the back.

There’s been some more movement on the lines at DraftKings Sportsbook. The Warriors are still 4.5-point favorites, but the total has now gone down to 213.5. Golden State is now -200 on the moneyline, while Boston is +170.

We’ve got starting lineups for both teams. The Celtics will roll with Smart, Brown, Tatum, Horford and Time Lord while the Warriors send out Curry, Thompson, Wiggins, Green and Looney.

We’re about 30 minutes away from the opening tip and here’s what you need to know from a betting standpoint. The Warriors have gained a half-point on the spread and are now 4.5-point favorites per DraftKings Sportsbook and -190 on the moneyline. The Celtics are +160. The total has moved to 215, which is a half-point down. All in all, not a lot of major movement here.
