The 2020-21 All-NBA teams were announced prior to Game 5 between the Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night. There could be a decent amount of debate after the announcement as well. Here are the first, second and third teams from the 2020-21 NBA season.
All-NBA First Team
G: Luka Doncic, Dallas Mavericks
G: Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors
F: Kawhi Leonard, Los Angeles Clippers
F: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks
C: Nikola Jokic, Denver Nuggets
It’s hard to argue with any names here. You’ve got the MVP in Jokic, who makes it over Embiid. It’s really just a matter of there being fewer spots for centers on each team, otherwise you’d see Embiid and Jokic on the first team. A lot of people will point to Steph over Dame, but there’s really no denying Curry’s run at the end of the season. Leonard is deserving enough looking at the names at forward on the second and third teams.
All-NBA Second Team
G: Chris Paul, Phoenix Suns
G: Damian Lillard, Portland Trail Blazers
F: LeBron James, Los Angeles Lakers
F: Julius Randle, New York Knicks
C: Joel Embiid, Philadelphia 76ers
CP3 just barely misses First Team All-NBA, though this is his 10th time making an All-NBA team in his career. Lillard slots in on the second team behind Doncic and Curry. Randle makes his first All-NBA team after winning Most Improved Player and being an All-Star for the first time. A lot of firsts for Randle.
All-NBA Third Team
G: Kyrie Irving, Brooklyn Nets
G: Bradley Beal, Washington Wizards
F: Jimmy Butler, Miami Heat
F: Paul George, Los Angeles Clippers
C: Rudy Gobert, Utah Jazz
Donovan Mitchell is one of the notable names left off All-NBA, being impacted by the ankle injury that held him out at the end of the regular season. Butler and Gobert make All-NBA and All-Defensive teams this season. PG-13 had a great regular season for the Clippers and Beal you could make a case for the second team being 2nd in the NBA in scoring. His teammate Russell Westbrook was left off the All-NBA roster this season.
A few other notable players left off the All-NBA team include Boston Celtics F Jayson Tatum, Chicago Bulls G Zach LaVine, Atlanta Hawks G Trae Young, Nets F Kevin Durant, New Orleans Pelicans PF Zion Williamson and Suns G Devin Booker.
