The Brooklyn Nets come in off two straight losses to the Milwaukee Bucks, who are only 1.0 game behind them for the 2nd seed in the East. Seeding from 2-3 doesn’t matter much for the East. It’s sort of “pick your poison” between the Boston Celtics, Miami Heat or Atlanta Hawks as far as first-round opponents go. So we could see the Nets take it easy on Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant and James Harden before the postseason. Harden remains sidelined.
The Dallas Mavericks needs this game much more than the Nets. Dallas is tied for 5th in the West with the Los Angeles Lakers with seven games to play. Both teams are 0.5 games clear of the Portland Trail Blazers in 7th place, avoiding the play-in tournament. Kristaps Porzingis has already been ruled out vs. the Nets. It’ll be up to Luka Doncic to carry the team.
