The Nets (43-21) have taken control of the Eastern Conference. They are ahead of the Philadelphia 76ers by half a game despite hardly getting to play James Harden, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Durant together. Durant and Irving are expected to play on Friday, but Harden (hamstring) and Nic Claxton (COVID-19 health and safety protocols) are still out. Under-the-radar pickups like Alize Johnson and Mike James have meshed well with Brooklyn’s personnel to keep the team afloat. The Nets can be any team in the NBA with just two of their superstars, so the Nets are in for a challenge.

The Bucks (39-24) aren’t far behind and rank third in the Eastern Conference. Injuries to Giannis Antetokounmpo have prevented Milwaukee from rising to the top, but the reigning MVP is probable for Sunday despite the ankle injury he’s dealing with. Incorporating PJ Tucker into the rotation could make the Bucks even more versatile on defense, and you need to be especially skilled at getting stopped against an offensive juggernaut like the Nets.
