The Hornets have won four of their past five games and don’t look now, but are the 4-seed in the East? What world are we living in? Anyway, the absence of LaMelo Ball (wrist) has sparked a fire under the Hornets, who have a chance to return to the postseason for the first time since 2016. Charlotte has been getting it done on defense, holding opponents to 105 points or fewer in each of the past five games.
The Nets await the status of James Harden, who left Wednesday’s game in the second half due to hamstring tightness. Chances are Harden will be held out of the second of a back-to-back as a precaution. Worst case scenario is Harden misses extended time. Even that might not be that bad for the Nets. Kyrie Irving is more than capable of carrying the team and the Nets overtook the Sixers for first place in the East on Wednesday despite Harden going down.
