All-Star Luka Doncic and PF/C Kristaps Porzingis were both held out of Wednesday’s first game back due to injury management. Said injuries were not specified in the report and we’re still waiting to see if one or both players will be back Saturday vs. the Nuggets. The Mavericks really don’t have any margin for error in the second half. Dallas is 19-17 entering the weekend and in the 8-seed in the West. The health of Doncic and Porzingis is paramount but the team also needs them to be competitive.
The Nuggets extended their winning streak to five games with a narrow win over the Memphis Grizzlies, 103-102 on Friday night. Denver got Paul Millsap back in the lineup after a long injury layoff. Millsap scored 11 points with 7 rebounds in 22 minutes off the bench. JaMychal Green and Zeke Nnaji remain sidelined due to illnesses, along with Gary Harris (groin) and RJ Hampton (health protocols). Nikola Jokic continues to make his case for NBA MVP with 28 points and 15 boards against Memphis. With Joel Embiid (knee) possibly set to miss some time, Jokic could make up some ground in the MVP race.
