UPDATE: Feb. 19, 4:48 p.m. — Schroder has no timeline for a return, Lakers coach Frank Vogel told reporters on Friday. Schroder was placed in health and safety protocols prior to Thursday’s loss to the Nets. The starting PG will likely be held out Saturday vs. the Miami Heat. So for now, LeBron James will run the point.
Los Angeles Lakers PG Dennis Schroder will not play in Friday’s game vs. the Brooklyn Nets due to health and safety protocols. This is pretty late news that we are just hearing about now. It should swing things dramatically in terms of the three-game DFS slate on DraftKings and betting lines.
With Schroder out, we should see more point LeBron James against the Nets. We also aren’t sure if Schroder is in health and safety protocols for contact tracing or because he tested positive for Covid-19. Keep an eye out and hope this doesn’t impact the game being played. If the game goes on as planned, the Lakers are down their starting guard, so we’ll have to look out for who will start. Chances are the Lakers insert somebody like Alex Caruso and let LeBron run the point all night.
This definitely makes you take a long look at the Nets moneyline. Brooklyn is also getting 3 points but I think if the game is close, the Lakers still maybe cover that -3 spread if they win. So if the Nets are going to come out and play offense like they have during their four-game winning streak, I’d rather get the ML at +123 right now on DraftKings Sportsbook. That line will likely move a bit once the books and public catch wind of the news.
