The Golden State Warriors will have to tweak their rotation significantly for Tuesday’s opener against the Los Angeles Lakers, with head coach Steve Kerr saying Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green are likely to be on minutes restrictions. Wiggins was away from the team while attempting to get an exemption from San Francisco’s vaccine mandate, so he reportedly has to ramp up his conditioning. Green spent time in Tokyo for the Summer Olympics and likely needs to be eased into the season.
This development opens up more minutes for free agent additions Otto Porter Jr. and Nemanja Bjelica on opening night. Both players are strong perimeter shooters and should open up more lanes for Stephen Curry and Jordan Poole. Golden State could also integrate rookies Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody into the rotation if needed.
The Warriors are 3-point underdogs against the Lakers on opening night. The over/under is set at 226.5. Golden State is +130 on the moneyline while Los Angeles is -150.
