The NBA and NBPA are discussing scenarios in which there would be a 2021 All-Star Game in March, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Monday evening. The League and Players Association is talking about having the game in Atlanta, per Woj. ATL is the home of Turner Sports, one of the NBA’s biggest partners. The plan includes providing support for HBCU’s and Covid-19 relief.
The NBA had announced prior to the season that there would not be an NBA All-Star Game. Because there wouldn’t be fans allowed at most venues for games throughout the season, the idea of holding All-Star Weekend never made much sense. I guess the fact that the NBA has had to postpone over 20 games the past three weeks due to Covid-19 concerns and health and safety protocols has done nothing to deter an All-Star Game. The NBA had earned praise for its handling of the 2020 playoffs in the bubble in Orlando. Things have not gone as smooth this season.
