Dennis Schroder leaves bubble to attend to family matter

Oklahoma City Thunder G Dennis Schroder has been ruled out for Monday’s game vs. the Denver Nuggets due to personal reasons, per coach Billy Donovan. Schroder has left the NBA bubble in Orlando to attend to a family matter.

Schroder is out along with Terrance Ferguson, who has a leg injury. The loss of Schroder puts a bit of a dent into OKC’s depth off the bench. Luckily, the Thunder still have Chris Paul and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in the back court. Let’s take a look at how to approach this in DFS and betting.

Fantasy basketball and betting impact

From a DFS perspective, this makes SGA ($6,000) a stronger play and boosts CP3 ($7,700) a bit as well. The Thunder really only have Luguentz Dort ($3,100) behind those two, so he may end up being the big chalk pivot for value. Dort started and played 30 minutes in the Thunder’s win over the Jazz on Saturday. At this price, if Dort is going to see that many minutes plus more usage, he’s definitely a top value.

This doesn’t do much for me from the betting side. The Thunder are favored by 5.0 points and the O/U is 219.5, which is a low total to begin with. I’d maybe look at the under a bit harder with less scoring off the bench for OKC. Perhaps the Nuggets figure something out with this lineup and at +165, it’s not bad value.
