The NBA is inching closer to a return at the end of July. The 22 teams participating in the restart of the 2019-20 season have made their way to Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Training Camps for each team will run from July 9 through July 29 with scrimmages right up to the season reopening on July 30. With the Boston Celtics beginning training camp, we’ll be tracking all the latest news and injuries here.

Boston Celtics Training Camp news updates

July 11 — Kemba to be on minutes limit early on

The Celtics had a plan for Kemba Walker before the NBA stopped in March. Now, coach Brad Stevens plans to keep that minutes restriction going into the NBA season restart. Stevens told reporters Saturday that Walker will have a minutes limit. This will likely just put more emphasis on Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown as go-to scorers. We could see more Brad Wanamaker off the bench, like we did during the regular season. So far Brown looks OK in training camp.

July 3 — Gordon Hayward to leave bubble for birth of child

The Celtics small forward’s wife is due in September, so if the Celtics make a deep playoff run, Hayward will leave the team. This isn’t really anything to be concerned about now. If Boston is playing in September, it means they’re in the Eastern Conference Finals or the NBA Finals. Not out of the question, but a long way to go.
