Harrison Barnes and Richaun Holmes are expected to play without minute restrictions in the opener for Sacramento.— James Ham (@James_HamNBCS) July 30, 2020
Barnes had been away from the team after testing positive for Covid-19. He has been cleared and played in scrimmages, so shouldn’t be held back at all. Holmes had the infamous delivery order of wings that forced him outside the bubble and into isolation. Holmes will also be back and won’t be held back in Friday’s important opener.
Fantasy and betting impact
For Friday’s slate, I wouldn’t say I’m opposed to targeting the Kings. The Spurs have very little depth in the front court with LaMarcus Aldridge sidelined. This game arguably means more for the Kings, who are looking to force a play-in tournament for the No. 8 seed. San Antonio has an outside shot and really can’t defend down low. I’d lean Holmes over Barnes given the upside depending on price and how the lineup shakes out.
Right now, the Kings are only favored by 2.5 points on DKSB and that seems pretty favorable given where these two teams are at. SacTown has De’Aaron Fox back and is really only missing Alex Len. The Spurs are a bit sneaky given it’s Gregg Popovich, but there’s just more talent and depth on Sacramento right now. I’d take the Kings on the spread and maybe even consider the over at 215.5 points. Neither team is great on defense and the Spurs could allow a lot of easy baskets down low. Plus, the Kings are riddled with 3-point shooters.
