The NBA already looks like it’s headed in the right direction for a return to play this season and now we have a timetable. The Athletic’s Shams Charania is reporting that the NBA is looking at a 2-4 week timetable for a decision on whether the season will return or not. The meeting earlier in the day between Silver and the BOG went incredibly well, first reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Now, we know a concrete decision should be made in no later than a month, which would be around the beginning of June.

It’s nice that we finally have a timetable for at least a decision on the season. It’s been just over two months since the NBA stopped play on March 11 due to the coronavirus pandemic. This is exactly the type of buffer, however, that we expected before a return. So if the league decides in a few weeks to come back, we’d likely need another 2-4 weeks until games actually get started up again. So we’re still a ways out but it’s certainly good news all around.
