Report: Timberwolves, Allen Crabbe agree to contract buyout

The Timberwolves have seen enough of Allen Crabbe and have decided to part ways with the swingman.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are done with Allen Crabbe. They acquired Crabbe from the Atlanta Hawks via trade in late-January, he and the team agreed to a contract buyouy Saturday, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The 27-year-old swingman only averaged 3.2 points per game on 32.4% shooting during his nine-game stint with Minnesota. He averaged 5.1 points per game on 36.4% shooting through 28 games with the Hawks. Although he has been cold this season, he remains playoff-eligible for other teams to sign.

Fantasy basketball analysis

Crabbe wasn’t very productive on the wing with the Timberwolves, but he did eat up 14.2 minutes per game. Jarrett Culver has regressed since Minnesota moved Robert Covington and acquired Malik Beasley ahead of the trade deadline. He could get more time on the wing behind Beasley and Josh Okogie now that there’s less competition.
