Russell Westbrook was given release from the Houston Rockets and it may give us back the point guard that we grew to love. Westbrook is halfway through his Washington Wizards debut and he’s already flirting with a triple-double. Russ has 9 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds at halftime and the Wizards went on a run to take a 59-58 lead into the locker room. We’ll keep an eye on Westbrook’s stats the rest of the game and see where he finishes in terms of DFS and fantasy basketball.
Westbrook ($9,300) already has over 30 DKFP on DraftKings and is only 4.2 percent owned in the $15 GPP with a $200K cash prize to first place. Russ is turning out to be one of the slatebreaking GPP plays of the 13-game slate. He’s got a whole half and will almost certainly hit a triple-double early in the third quarter.
Final Update: Westbrook and the Wizards fell short, but Russ had a hell of a debut for Washington. He finished with 21-15-11 for a triple-double, the first player in franchise history to record a triple-double in his debut. The final DKFP tally was 58.75 at very, very low ownership in most GPPs on the 13-game slate.
Update: Westbrook has the triple-double in the books at the end of the third quarter. He’s up to 13-14-11 with one more quarter left to go and the Wizards have a 10-point lead over the Sixers. Washington could be very dangerous this season with Russ at the helm. Just wait until Rui Hachimura comes back and Davis Bertans is 100 percent. Westbrook is over 50 DKFP on the night and will look to get some more in the fourth.
