The Los Angeles Lakers are coming off a championship in 2020 and really didn’t need to do too much to make a run at a repeat. Instead of that line of thinking, the Lakers went out and go even better. One of those transactions was acquiring veteran PG Dennis Schroder in a trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder this offseason.

The Lakers lost Avery Bradley to free agency and Schroder is expected to become a fixture in the backcourt for L.A. Schroder is used to coming off the bench, but we may see him starting for the Lakers. With that said, we’re keeping an eye on his performance in his Lakers debut on Opening Night vs. the Los Angeles Clippers at Staples Center at 10:00 p.m. ET. Here you can find highlights and fantasy basketball stats.

Dennis Schroder Lakers debut live updates

First-quarter update — Schroder had a modest first quarter and scored 5 points to go along with a pair of assists and a rebound. The Lakers are entering the second quarter with a 20-point deficit and trail the Clippers 39-19. Shroeder and the rest of the ice-cold Lakers thing to pick up the slack quickly before things get out of hand.

Halftime update — Schroder has done a little bit of everything is entering the break with 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. He’s essentially acted as Los Angeles’s third scoring option on a cold shooting night. He’s easily been the Lakers’ best distributor so far and is looking like a quality pickup for the reigning champs.

Third-quarter update — The Lakers’ newest point guard is a triple-double threat. He’s totaled 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists on 5-of-13 shooting and should be critical to keeping his team in the game down the stretch.

Final update — Schroder was just short of a triple-double and ended the night with 14 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 assists on 5-of-15 shooting. He stuffed the start sheet but wasn’t efficient like the rest of the Lakers’ players. He led Los Angeles in rebounds and assists.
