At first, it was a bit surprising to see reigning 6th Man of the Year Montrezl Harrell leave the Los Angeles Clippers for the crosstown rival Los Angeles Lakers. After all the controversy surrounding the Clippers’ culture, it wasn’t all that surprising. There’s clearly a little bit of tension between Harrell and his former team, something that we could see in full force on NBA Opening Night at Staples Center on Tuesday night at 10:00 p.m. ET on TNT. Harrell will face his former team, now with the defending champion Lakers. Here we’re going to be tracking Harrell’s stats throughout his Lakers debut, including fantasy basketball stats

Montrezl Harrell Lakers debut live updates

Final update — Harrell had a strong debut for the Lakers with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists in 32 minutes off the bench. The reigning 6th Man of the Year switched over to the Lakers, but was on the losing side against his former team the Clippers. Harrell got a lot of run down the stretch and it seemed like the Lakers kind of threw in the towel early. The best sign for Harrell is that there’s a chance LeBron ends up playing decreased minutes on some nights and those minutes should go to Harrell.

Halftime update — Harrell is up to 7 points and 5 boards with one assist at halftime in his Lakers debut. The Lakers were down by as much as 20 points and have since stormed back to make it 56-55 at halftime. With a more competitive game, Harrell should see plenty of run with the second unit. We’ll see if Harrell ends up finishing the game next to AD, LeBron, KCP and Schroder.

First quarter update — Harrell came on early in the first quarter for the Lakers in his debut for the defending champs. He scored 4 points with a pair of rebounds and an assist, playing poorly on defense to help the Clippers take a massive lead after the first.
