Portland Trail Blazers forward Carmelo Anthony is off to an impressive start in his time with the team, and they are set to reward him. The team is amending his contract so that it becomes fully guaranteed for the remainder of the season, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Anthony is coming off a Western Conference Player of the Week award in a season that has gone better than most anyone likely imagined. In eight games since signing with the team, he’s playing 31 minutes a game and averaging 16.9 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. He’s scored in double digits in all but one of this games, and has surpassed 20 points three separate games. He is currently third on the team in minutes and points per game.
The Blazers lost the first three games in which Anthony appeared, but have since won four of five. They now sit in ninth place in the Eastern Conference with a 9-13 record.
