Anthony Davis says he won’t rest Saturday vs. the Grizzlies

Lakers power forward was a candidate for load management tonight in Memphis. We break down what his presence will mean in fantasy basketball and betting.

So we all thought the Los Angeles Lakers would rest Anthony Davis on the second night of a back-to-back, but for now that doesn’t appear to be the case Saturday vs. the Grizzlies. For now — and I will warn everyone to keep an eye on this situation leading up to lock — we can expect Davis to start and play a normal workload.

Fantasy Basketball Analysis: Los Angeles Lakers lineup

This doesn’t change much with AD ($10,000) playing, but it impacts LeBron James’ ($11,100) outlook a bit. With Davis in, the Lakers should cruise to a win over the Grizzlies, and the last time we trusted LeBron vs. Memphis, he busted in fantasy because the game was over quickly. I think a similar scenario is in play tonight, though the second of a back-to-back impacts things a bit. I’d feel safer going with Davis in GPPs than LeBron at this point.

As far as the line on DraftKings Sportsbook, the Lakers are only favored by 7.5 points, which seems generous given they’ll likely have a full rotation. If both AD and LeBron play, the spread here is enticing. I also think with the pace up and the Lakers tired, we could see a lot of scoring, so the O/U of 223 also sticks out.
