Kawhi Leonard, Paul George wanted to play together in San Antonio

In a story on ESPN from Staff Writer Ohm Youngmisuk, Los Angeles Clippers teammates Kawhi Leonard and Paul George wanted to originally play together for the San Antonio Spurs. Sorry, Spurs fans. That must have been pretty tough to read.

Now, the two are potentially going to make their debut together for the Clippers on Wednesday vs. the Boston Celtics. Per Ohm and Adrian Wojnarowski, Kawhi is expected to play tonight. Apparently the pair have been plotting this for a while now, trying to land on the same team since 2017. Here’s a direct quote from George out of the story:

“I wanted to be traded to San Antonio,” George said, per the report. “We wanted to go to San Antonio first, and we didn’t make that happen.”

Ultimately George wanted to go home to Los Angeles, citing that the Lakers would have been a destination if they were able to accommodate both PG-13 and Leonard. They didn’t make that happen, so the Clippers did.

The rest of the story is pretty awesome, props to Ohm. In terms of fantasy basketball, it will be interesting to see how Kawhi and PG operate on the court at the same time. It’ll most likely be fascinating, like Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen in their primes. Kawhi ($9,300 on DraftKings) and George ($7,800) would get a tough challenge in their first game as well, against the best team in the East in the Celtics.
