How to handle Malcolm Brogdon’s injury Saturday vs. the Bucks

Pacers point guard uncertain for matchup with Milwaukee. If he sits, how should you approach Indiana’s lineup? We break it down.

Viewed as a strong chalk play at $7,600 on Friday’s slate, a back injury derailed things for DFS users and Pacers PG Malcolm Brogdon early in a loss to the Rockets. Brogdon finished with two points and four assists in nine minutes before leaving because of his back and now his status for Saturday’s game vs. the Bucks is uncertain.

Who Will Step Up If Malcolm Brogdon Is Out?

If it was obvious after Friday, Justin Holiday ($3,500) is your chalk play for Saturday. He filled in for Brogdon against Houston, playing 39 minutes while scoring 10 points with five rebounds and three assists. He wasn’t efficient by any means, but that usage is heavy. Only three players saw more than 30 minutes vs. the Rockets, Domantas Sabonis ($8,500), Doug McDermott ($3,700) and Holiday. That’s not going to win the Pacers many games, but for fantasy basketball purposes, we’ll take it. Holiday is extremely cheap and should hit around 6-8x value if he’s going to play that much.

If Brogdon does play, well at $6,900 his price is appealing, sure, but we don’t know if the back is going to flare up again. I’d say he’s too risky to roll out on DraftKings and season-long in this instance. The Bucks are favored on the road and could run away with this game.
