MLB will have one of their busiest days of the entire season on Sunday, July 18th. Two games will be continued after being suspended on Saturday with one doubleheader for a total of 18 games taking place throughout the day. Tommy Edman gets day off
The Cardinals utility man is getting what appears to be a rest day on Sunday. Matt Carpenter will start in his place at second base. Edman is slashing .255/.298/.367 with five home runs and 26 RBIs to go along with 16 stolen bases. Carpenter is slashing .196/.321/.326 with three home runs and 20 RBIs.
Tim Locastro tears ACL
New York Yankees outfielder Tim Locastro made a fantastic play in the first inning on Saturday, but he tore his ACL in the process. Locastro was traded to the Yankees a few weeks ago, and has a .180 batting average in 139 at bats this season and will hope to return early next season.
Mookie Betts is out
Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts will be out of the lineup on Sunday with a hip injury. He dominated at the plate on Saturday, finishing 4-for-4 with a home run and three doubles before exiting. This does not appear to be a long-term injury, so he should return to the lineup soon.
Devin Williams hits the IL
Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Devin Williams was placed on the injured list on Saturday with elbow soreness, which will be a tough blow to this bullpen over the next couple weeks. He has a 2.97 ERA in 37 games this season.
